Cracker Barrel Old Country Store announced it is pulling some of the Duck Commander merchandise from their shelves. Apparently the decision comes in the wake of the recent controversy associated with Duck Dynasty and reality TV star Phil Robertson.
The restaurant chain that caters to families placed the following statement on its Facebook page Friday night.
“Cracker Barrel’s mission is Pleasing People. We operate within the ideals of fairness, mutual respect and equal treatment of all people. These ideals are the core of our corporate culture.
We continue to offer Duck Commander products in our stores.
We removed selected products which we were concerned might offend some of our guests while we evaluate the situation.
We continually evaluate the products we offer and will continue to do so.”
Fans of both Cracker Barrel and Duck Dynasty have been quick to react.
“After you are done removing the selected products, go ahead and remove a bunch of tables and chairs... you won't be needing them any more,” wrote Jody Dixon.
Mark Owens of Phoenix, Arizona said, “Dear Cracker Barrel, you have grossly misjudged your consumer base. I support Duck Commander products in support of the Robertson’s. Obviously your decision-making is based on A&E's position. I will no longer eat at CB's if your gonna be biased and judge people for who they want to be and not by what a corporation or PC leftists want them to be.”
Under Armour, Inc., Duck Dynasty’s largest corporate sponsor, announced it rejected the demands of the gay lobby and will continue to support Duck Commander.
