Actor/producer Kirk Cameron has announced the release date for his most personal project to date regarding his faith in God.
Unstoppable is a documentary that takes audiences on a journey to the beginning of creation, and chronicles events that offer a deeper meaning of the role that pain and suffering have in life. Cameron tells AFN the film attempts to answer one of the most critical questions facing most humans, “how can a God of love allow devastation in the world and our personal lives?”
“It’s easy to celebrate your faith when things seem to be going well in your life," said Cameron. "But when we encounter tragedy or adversity in our lives, we often question ‘Where is God in all of this?’ We wrestle with our hearts and minds to understand the reasoning,” says Cameron. “In Unstoppable, I take you on a personal voyage into the depths of my faith, based on something that happened in my life. We discover not only is there an answer to this pivotal question, there is great hope in it as well!”
Unstoppable created a social media firestorm when both Facebook and YouTube prohibited audience’s access to the film’s trailer, labeling it as “unsafe” and “abusive.” Cameron says the film will prompt audiences to consider their personal views on faith, and encourage conversation starters about God, suffering, and hope.
Unstoppable will be broadcast to nearly 700 cinemas nationwide from The Vines Center at Liberty University—the largest Evangelical Christian university in the world—in Lynchburg, Virginia, on Tuesday, Sept. 24 at 8:00 p.m. ET / 7:00 p.m. CT and tape delayed at 7:00 p.m. MT / 8:00 p.m. PT/AK/HI. Tickets and theatre locations are available online at www.unstoppablethemovie.com.
Cameron is best known for his memorable role of "Mike Seaver", a cultural icon of the 80's, with his mullet hairstyle, cool glasses, and wisecracking comebacks. More recently he enjoyed much success with the #1 grossing inspirational film of 2008, Fireproof, and his recent documentary, Monumental. His company, CAMfam Studios, will release his latest film, Unstoppable, on September 24th, in theaters across the nation.
